It is proximity to the metro station and the size and cleanness of the room.

Some of the guests are very noisy.

    Good

The best thing about the Budget Inn was that the Metro was near by.

The man helping us behind the desk at check in was very rude. Our room smelt of smoke, even after we had asked for a non smoking room.

    Fabulous

The location near Naylor Avenue Station was great. If you are not African American, you will stand out in this neighborhood, but as a guy who looks white, I had no problem with that. People were friendly, courteous, and just plain nice. The deal-maker for me was the location near the station however. Within about a half hour from leaving your room you can be anywhere in central dc. Reagan Airport is also easy to get to using the Metro. The room was clean and well maintained. There were few thrills (iron, coffee machine, etc.), but the price to me mean this did not matter (there was a microwave/fridge, so I got instant coffee at 7/11 up the street. The soul food/sea food restaurant between the hotel and station was good.

It was really close to a Metro station.

The lobby was smelling bad. My non-smoker room was smelling smoke. There were stains on bed, chairs not clean to sit on. In general not clean. Th only thing I liked about it was closeness to the Metro and that's the only reason I took it.

    Very good

Right next to the Metro station so very convenient!

It was a bit tired looking but it certainly was not the worse hotel I ever stayed in!

    The neighborhood is quite threatening.

    Good

It was less than a block from the Naylor Road Green Line Metro stop which is super convenient to get downtown without paying through the nose.

The room smelled of smoke so badly that all our clothes and hair smelled that way the next day even with a shower in the morning. The area isn't real bad, but it is a lower income neighborhood. You need to be aware and not flash a lot of money, lock your car doors, etc.

It's very close to the metro station

Dingy rooms, scary neighborhood, non-smoking rooms smell of cigarettes.

    It was conveniently located.

I wanted to change to a larger room and wasn't allowed too. The male manager was rude as hell and inconsiderate. Like he thinks he doesn't have to be kind to someone who looks like me. He treated me like I was inconvenient to him.

    Good

Very close to Naylor Road metro station (green line) as well as Buses to the city center (nº 39). A good place to stay if you want a cheap accommodation to visit washington, but don't expect much.

The area around looks a bit messy and there is nothing to do, just a few drive shops. However no security problems and everything was quite. The motel seems to be used for one night sleep only, but I was ok during 3 nights. No noise in the rooms, although sometimes people can arrive later in the night.

There is a subway station nearby, and the hotel room is surprisingly clean and spacious.

I always have a unsafe feeling during the journey back to the hotel from the subway station at night (9 pm onwards). Also, I found that most of the hotel tenants are unfriendly and you can hear quarrels from your room from time to time.

    Near restaurants

The check in person, brusque, I didn't stay long enough to have much experience

    Good

This is more of a motel than a hotel. Though located in one of th "African American" districts of Washington, the proximity to the metro station (3 min.) makes the location excelent for exploring the city. The room is big and clean, and the bed sheets are changed every day which is quite a surprise for this type of a hotel. The price might be lower, but if you risk to come there unbooked (and the risk seems to be minimal, as during my week there I guess there were only a few more guests beside myself) you could get a room for $45.99. At least that is what their advertising banner sais at the entrance.

This is a hotel that just gives you a place to stay over the night, nothing more. But with its convenient location and moderate rates this would not be a bad choice
